Of the Danemar
Danemar, first of the men to arrive in Aeriador in the year 1 of the First Age. The Danemar are the first and most noble of the men to arrive in Aeriador. Comprised of three houses, the Danemar settled in the lands to the north stretching from the great Mountains of Mist to the East Sea. They called their lands,
Henneth Annun. Early in their history of Aeriador, the Danemar were blessed with long life by their God Tyr. Some say the god himself took a Danemar woman to wife and through her his children created the blessed Danemar line of men who are taller and more noble than other men of Aeriador. Others have claimed the Danemar are simply men who mixed with elves in the past, giving them their long life. Whatever the truth may be, it is apparent the Danemar are indeed blessed for they are longer-lived, taller, and fairer than other men. (Danemar receive a +1 bonus to Appearance)
The House of Belor arrived first, and the leader of that house was Erchamion Belor. His people traveled far north and settled in the north eastern part of Aeriador in a land they called Hildoriland. The men of House Belor were tall and golden haired, and most resembled the Gold Elves. Upon arriving in Aeriador, House Belor created the Knights of Belor, which later became the Knights of Dane, to fight off and hold at bay the ever-increasing presence of demons in the realm. The first Seneschal and founder of the Knights of Belor was Erchamion Belor who was also the first King of the Dane. The King of the Dane is always from the House of Belor and in direct male descent from Erchamion Belor.
The second house of men to arrive was the House of Haladan. The Haladan were a strong race of men, tall and noble, like Belor, but stouter and of dark hair. The House of Haladan settled near to the House of Belor in the Forest of Dorthonin. The House of Haladan have strong warriors, and the warriors of the Haladan joined forces with House Belor and the Knights of Belor. When the House of Haladan joined the Knights, the name was changed to the Knights of Dane.
The third house of men are the House of Marach, and they came much later. The peoples of Marach were a more varied house of men in appearance, not as tall as those from the Houses of Belor or Haladan, but they were strong. Their hair ranged from light to dark. They were some of the greatest sailors and shipbuilders in all the lands. They settled and dwelt mostly by the sea far to the north and even settled in the islands north of Henneth. Collectively, these three houses are called the House of the Dane, or the Danemar. Warriors of the House of Marach also joined the Knights of Dane, but it is the Clerics of the House of Marach who are so renowned, and the Turcopolier of the Knights of Dane is always from the House of Marach.
The Danemar have been instrumental in fighting and keeping at bay the evils west of the Mountains of Mist. The Knights of Dane is ever vigilant to destroy all demon kind and keep their realm safe. Most Knights of Dane are of good alignment, but some of the Knights are of the utmost character. They are the Knight Priests of the Order, and these knights are mostly clerics and paladins of Tyr, and all are lawful good.
