Sorcerers of Shibaxet
Type: Aspects of Azazael
Hierarchy
**Sorcerers of Shibaxet**
Description
The Sorcerers of Shibaxet are first and foremost the loyal servants of the Dark Lord, Azazael. Other than maintaining control of the Tower of High Sorcery, the Throne of Azazael, and a few strongholds, the motivations and end goals of the Sorcerers is unknown. They are an elusive group of demonic, possibly undead, servants terrorizing all they encounter. The strongholds they maintain are fearsome places run amuck with foul beasts and undead servants. These sorcerers are feared throughout the realm for their mystery and dark magic which has been known to destroy natural life, such as crops and livestock, just at their passing. They each ride a demonic black horse servant and are rarely seen alone, often riding with another sorcerer or with at least several servants. No one knows the true identities of the sorcerers, but there are many rumors. Some suspect they are demons or undead under the control of the Dark Lord, or perhaps they are fallen sorcerers of men from long ago. Many sages have tried to guess their identity, but the truth is no one really knows. None have seen their faces as they always wear dark helms honoring various demon lords. Their leader, Uvatha, always wears a helm of demonic form in honor of Azazael, whereas, Ren the Unclean, always wears a helm honoring the fallen Pazuzu. Other helms that have been witnessed by the unfortunate souls to survive an encounter have been in the image of Dagon, Baphomet, Demogorgon, and the mighty Orcus. Although their true number remains a mystery except perhaps to the most wise of Aeriador, the prevalent rumor is there are between six and nine sorcerers.
The sorcerers ride black horses with the stat block of the Nightmare, Cauchemar. They are a huge mount with the following changes:
The sorcerers mounts are chaotic evil and appear as ghoulish or zombie like horses with rotting flesh, glowing red eyes, and they have a fear aura that permeates the air around them. Unlike a Cauchemar, the sorcerers mounts do not stand on smoking hooves nor are they burning. Their cold fear aura reaches to a range of a 60 ft radius and is treated as the same Fear Aura of a Lich. This ability replaces the Cauchemar spell-like abilities. The sorcerers horses have the same Smoke special ability of the Cauchemar
New: As of SA 1611
The Sorcerers have mostly disappeared from sight after the War with Lamashtu. Several of them were defeated and others went into hiding. The Dark Tower of Sorcery went dark for several centuries, but activity has been noted recently, since about SA 1590, and it is rumored a Sorcerer dwells there again.
