The Weaknesses of Vampiress
Through my research and study, investigations, witness accounts, and interviews conducted, I have determined these things to be mostly true for vampires.
Let it be known that I have only encountered a vampire one time in my life, and the fear of it controlled me. If not for my holy symbol and my faith in Celeborn, I fear that may have been the end of me. Therefore, I can conclude with relative certainty that a holy symbol presented by a person of faith can, at least for a time, cause a vampire to recoil and perhaps even depart.
These weaknesses may, or may not, be true for all types of vampires, for which there are at least several known to include the infamous Nosferatu and the Moroi.
I present the Weaknesses of Vampires:
1. Vampires cannot tolerate the strong odor of garlic and will not enter an area laced with it. This is a common defense used by the people of Ravengro at their homes. I too have used this on occasion.
2. Vampires seem to recoil at the presence of a holy symbol presented by a person of faith (the faith must be strong, ie. not flippantly presented by someone who heard they don't like crosses).
3. Vampires recoil from mirrors and try to avoid them.
4. Vampires, at least most of them, seem unable to enter a home or dwelling unless invited in by someone with authority to do so.
Killing a Vampire
Killing a vampire is a most difficult challenge. If defeated, a vampire seems to turn to mist rather than be outright killed. They heal at a tremendously fast rate, potentially in a day or two.
Vampires seem to be especially vulnerable to sunlight, and this is a potential method of killing one, although I have no first-hand accounts to verify.
I have heard rumors that running water may also kill a vampire, though I am interested in how a person might convince a vampire to bathe.
The tried and true method of killing a vampire is none other than driving a stake through it's heart. Once dead, the vampire should be destroyed completely by severing it's head, anointing it with holy water, and then I would suggest burning it or fully exposing it to sunlight when the opportunity arises.
