Aeriador, Campaign II

Date: 3 Astron, The Year of the Veil, 1611 in the Second Age of Annûn

Eorhanian Calendar (used in Eorhan and Henneth Sonnûn, the primary calendar of the Grey Havens)

This calendar was derived from the sages of Eorahn and later adopted by the Grey Havens for shipping and planning of crops.

Journal Entries (1611 Second Age)

1 Rethe (March)

Lauremire travels from Celwynvian to Branleigh at the urging of Marigold due to the discovery of something unusual. Lauremire leaves Sylaenis at Celwynvian to study and research gems containing significant arcane energies, especially any historical accounts of red gems or other incidents of this red energy flowing in the sky.

10 Rethe

Marigold shows Lauremire the red gem discovered on the rocky beaches near Branleigh. Lauremire begins to study the gem discovering a portion of it's power but still unable to control it.

12 Rethe

Kaldar is given evidence of his mother by his Master and Mentor, Sev'Yingul. Kaldar was brought to the Priory of Zion at the age of 3 by a servant girl of the local town at the bottom of Mount Zion. During one of his normal trips to town, Master Sev'Yingul met the servant girl at a tavern. She explained to Master Sev'Yingul that a woman, tall and beautiful with blonde hair, but clearly weakened and distressed was seeking safety and shelter for her son, whom she called Kaldar. The woman gave the child to the servant girl and departed, never to be seen again. Master Sev'Yingul was moved with compassion and told the girl he would care for the child at the Priory if she did not wish to carry this burden. Master Sev'Yingul explained all of this to Kaldar on 12 Rethe, handed him a small wooden box with faded and damaged parchment inside. He told Kaldar that instead of the normal tests and trials outside of the Priory, he would be given the special mission to complete himself mentally and emotionally to fully enter the ranks of the Monks of the Priory. He was given the mission to discover the truth of who he was and who his mother was.

17 Rethe

Kaldar prepared his things, and with two of his closest friends and his Master, he departed from the Priory to travel to Celwynvian. Master Sev'Yingul had business to conduct in Celwynvian and Branleigh before heading back to the Priory and leaving Kaldar to his mission. 

26 Rethe

Lauremire and Marigold receive word that the Arcanists of Rhune are seeking red gems and that their Black Clerics have been seen in the area of Celwynvian.  Lauremire sends a message by rider to Celwynvian to Sylaenis to be wary, but make all haste to Branleigh.

3 Astron

Sylaenis, while researching gemology and arcane properties of gems in the Great Library in Celwynvian, receives the message scroll from Lauremire. 

4 Astron

Sylaenis prepares to depart for Branleigh

5 Astron

Sylaenis departs for Branleigh, arrives at the Silver Hearth inn and tavern

Sylaenis meets Kaldar of the monks

Kaldar interacts with the Black Cleric of Rhune

6 Astron

Sylaenis and Kaldar depart the Silver Hearth under the darkness of early morning and head north. Continue travels to Branleigh, resting off the road near a forest.

7 Astron

Continue travels to Branleigh and arrive in Branleigh around dusk

Finds the Fern and Barrel and meets Marigold and Laerina

Meets Elarien, Lomendil, Laerina, in the secret meeting of the Lark and Lantern meeting room

Fire errupts and the group is forced out

Meet and fight the Black Cleric, and with the assistance of Elarien and Lauremire, defeat the Black Cleric

Lomendil convinces the party they need to flee Branleigh as there is a second Black Cleric

the Group begins their travel west into the forests

8 Astron 

Led by Lomendil, we continued to travel westward across the fields and plains of Aered Bruein toward the forests of the Whitehorn Mountains

9 Astron

Finally we reached the forests and felt a bit better about escaping the Black Clerics.  

10 - 11 Astron

Lomendil led us as we traveled these two days through the forest camping each night. Lomendil was leading us to a ranger cabin that we could rest and recover and gather our thoughts for our next move.

Before we could arrive at the cabin, we were waylaid by an Arcanist of Rhune. He called himself Dravok Talruth, and his power was considerable. With a spell he killed Lauremire, our most powerful mage, and with another spell he nearly killed Lomendil, withering his arm to a useless stump and blinding him.

Silaenis quickly moves to the dying Lauremire to help her, but she is beyond help.  Kaldar thinks quickly and determines it is best to discard the wand with the crimson gem to allow for a moment to escape. He throws the wand deep into the forest and helps the others escape. Dravok lets the party escape while he moves into the forest to find the wand.

Lomendil, blinded and with a useless arm, helps to guide the party to the cabin. 

They arrive at the cabin on the night of the 11th. They take care of the body of Lauremire and help Lomendil get comfortable. They prep a meal and discuss their options. Marigold redommends the group seek out the eccentric antique collector called Shidias in Celwynvian. But to find her, they need to find the Lady Zoina, a personal contact of Shidias.

12 Astron

The group, now consisting of Silaenis, Kaldar, and Laerina, depart for Celwynvian along the path recommended by Lomendil.

13 - 14 Astron

The three continue to travel and camp.

15 Astron

Continue traveling until we reach the northern road. We see what appears to be a Black Cleric speeding north on his black steed towards Branleigh.

We arrive at Celwynvian in the evening, and the group stays at the shared apartment of Silaenis and Lauremire.

16 Astron

On this morning, the group makes their way to the Grand Sepulcher to find the Lady Zoina so they can find this eccentric elf Shidias.

They arrive at the Grand Sepulcher in Celwynvian and are met by the Lady of the Gates, Telperinde.

She records their visit and leads them to the Receiving room where they meet Zoina, Venya, and Tindomiel. They discuss meeting Shidias as well as the current state of the energy ribbon and more rumors of found Crimson Gems.

The group drink the elixer and are somehow moved to a new room, in a location undisclosed. There they meet Shidias, an eccentric Silver Elf. She has given them the task to find a Crimson Gem and has pointed them to the top of Mount Celmintar near Asmeril. If they find the gem, they are allowed to use it, but must give it to Shidias after their use of it is completed. The gem they will find is a rather large specimen, about the size of an oblong tennis ball. They accept the mission and drink more elixer.

17 Astron

The group awakens on the morning of the 17th in a room they are not familiar with. This is a bedroom in the estate of Ithryn and Silmarien. They are confronted by Niniel, daughter of Ithryn, and Lothiel, daughter of Aerena. They all heard the disembodied voice of Shidias explaining why the group was there. Niniel agrees to help the group and outfits them for travel to Mount Celmintar. 

18 Astron

The Group Travels and meets Lin Jianyu on the road, she has been waylaid by thugs of Rhune. The group kills them and save Lin. She is pissed because this was her challenge

19 Astron

The group arrives at the base of the Mount Celmintar and begin their trek up the mountain. Their rest is uneventful.

20 Astron

The group arrives at the top of the mountain and discover a small band of Rhune soldiers searching for the gem.  The witness Xanthelor disintegrate Seraxil.

The group defeats the Rhune soldiers, Thesselara, and the monk, and then rests for the night.  Silaenis and Laerina see some blue flashes off in the distance on the horizon and then a red-orange glow, as if something were on fire.

21 Astron

The next day they rise and decide to return the way they came and travel further up the mountain. They defeat a group of orcs camping/hunting. They arrive at the site of the Trinity Stones and are met with a horrific scene. Nearly 60 Rhune soldiers led by several Arcanists and Black Clerics were all killed in some massive battle. Some had burn marks hinting at lightning, others had been killed by the sword. They find the Trinity Stones and make camp.

22 Astron

The next morning the investigate the stones and the Rhune camp further and are met by the Hierophant Druid Elenar. She leads two of the group to her mountain dwelling and she presents them with the Crimson Gem. This one is larger than the others, about the size of a golf ball or large egg. Silaenis takes the crystal and returns to the camp. Elenar bids them goodbye and warns them to make haste back to the homestead of Niniel, and if possible, avoid the roads as they will be watched by the enemy.

23 Astron

The group spent the day traveling down the mountain heading towards the western side. By the end of the day, the group had made it to the base of Mount Celmintar. The group makes camp.

24 Astron

In the morning, the group heads out toward the river Asmer. During their travels through the forest they discover a deer turned to stone. By the end of the day they made it to the river and came across the camp of the group the League of Five (LV). They are comprised of five members, Halmir and Haleth, human rangers; Fendome, and elven wizard; Nyalanna, an elven bard; and Railin, the dwarven cleric.  The LV was hunting a basilisk that was rumored to have killed several people. The group camps overnight with LV. 

25 Astron

The groups travel this day until they find the cave of the Basilisk. Clean up camp and assist LV with killing the basilisk. In the cave they found the stoned form of an elven warrior and the basilisks nest, three eggs it was protecting. Completed the travel to Asmeril and met with Niniel and all who were now there:  Lomendil, Marigold, Lauremire, Earien, and Lothiel. That evening the group begins discussion what to do with the crimson gem.

26 Astron

Earien buys the live basilisk egg from Silaenis. Silaenis, Kaldar, Lothiel go to Asmeril to sell the eggs of the Basilisk. 

The Crimson Energy is now very close and brighter in the night sky.

27 Astron

In the early morning, Earien and Lin travel via Transport via Plants to the Priory of Zion. Later in the morning the others begin their journey to Celwynvian. In that group are Lothiel, Silaenis, Kaldar, Laerina, and Marigold.

The Crimson Energy has now reached Celwynvian.
